2:30 in the morning and we are getting pelting rain and heavy wind from the north. As predicted, it is more wind than rain for us. Now and then the lights will flicker causing all the systems in the house to beep in protest. And, through it all, my babies sleep.
Watch Ike’s travels

As Ike moves up and across the coast from Galveston, you can watch a live radar track. Click here for NOAA’s weather radar. Click here for a more 3D version of the same information. Be sure to toggle on the radar overlay on the second map; the button is on the right side of the screen.
It’s blowing here, though we expect the wind to peak in about four hours.
It’s showtime
Ike is making his presence known. County Judge Emmit says: be off the roads by 6:30 when we will begin having hurricane strength winds across the Houston metropolitan area. Police Chief Hurt stepped up and said there will be a curfew beginning at 7pm till dawn. Those pretty ted bands are now kissing the banks of the gulf coast. Time for wine!
