4323.6 MILES: We got a late start today because we got a late stop last night. We didn’t reach our hotel till just before 11. Ouch. So, we’re on our way to Austin with full knowledge it will be another late one.

4217.8 MILES: New Mexico is depressing. At least this part is… Trailer-box homes surrounded by broken down cars… Then, nothing. Flats meeting flats punctuated by towering stone outcroppings. Beautiful at times, but mostly inhospitable.
