Help me CAPTCHA comment spam

If you leave a comment on any our Driving with DaddyMom posts, you’ll notice there’s now a required CAPTCHA field. I didn’t want to do this. But, in the past three days, I’ve received over 30 spam comments. Similar to the spam you get in email, these comments are generic kudos created and sent by “spambots” to generate reciprocating links for some weasel’s website. You never see them because I report them as spam and move on. But, the frequency of them has risen from bothersome to irritating. CAPTCHA may mean an extra step for you, but it’s defeat for spambots. Thanks for understanding.

Set your wayback machine for the 1900’s

Hey kids, check out this technological wonder. A camera that exposes images focused onto a sliding media that’s later washed in chemicals to reveal an image that’s printed onto light-sensitive paper. It’s called film and in those dark days of the 1970’s and early 80’s, that’s how we took pictures. Today it’s marketed as a cunning alternative to all that confusing technology needed to take and print digital images. Clever pitch. Order today and get a free two-way radio telephone installed in your car.

The bars are here!

A couple weeks ago, Stella and I were curled up watching Shark Tank on ABC-TV; a reality show from the same guy who inflicted Survivor and The Apprentice upon us. This show is like The Apprentice on crack: entrepreneurs, inventors, and wingnuts come in and pitch their ideas to a panel of venture capital folk. Well, this one guy sold me and Stella.

dmcrunch

Element Bars are custom-made energy bars–like CLIF bars and the like. This guy pitched his butt off and got a deal. My kind of guy. I pulled out the MacBook. Stella and I could give his system a spin. Today the bars arrived. DADDYMOM CRUNCH. Sorry, Not sold in stores. Available for a limited time only–like until five minutes after the kids get a look at the box.

Bottom-line: they’re tasty, organic, and cost only about 15-20% more than a CLIF bar that’s been sitting in a box for God knows how long. Check them out: Element Bars.

Wii winds up wee one way up wow

WARNING: The video you’re about to see is shocking.
You may not want younger children to watch.
It would only give them ideas.

Maybe I was too far ahead of the curve when I surfed Craig’s List two Christmas ago and snagged my kids a Wii; I paid cash in  a seedy parking lot to a total stranger so my kids could be first on their block (maybe in the whole subdivision) to brag they had a Wii. Well, they were excited, but nothing like what you’re about to see. Frankly, I feel cheated. Maybe for his birthday the parents of this caterwauling Canadian can sustain his mood swing by scoring him a Keurig and some extra-bold K-cups.

BSO: Bright shiny objects

When I created DrivingWithDaddyMom, it was to share our summer travel adventures. Then, it morphed into our family travel blog. Still good. And then, more content for more reasons began muddling our zeitgeist. That just won’t do. So, I’m getting our Feng back with its Shui and granting these things their own realm, suitably titled: Bright shiny objects.

And now for something completely familiar
The band Weezer created this video using send-ups of videos popular on UTube. Watch the song and see how many you can spot:

Daddy’s play space
How I do love exploring with my camera. I have another site for my photos. But, this is a cool photo slide show from Shutterspace featuring my latest.

Zuzu’s screen test

Video on the web. It’s a huge which has only begun building and we’re working hard to hang ten before it fully crests. I’m experimenting with a video encoding services. Here’s a test featuring my precious Zuzu:

St. Cyril’s Thanksgiving

Here’s a perfect BSO. A new video my firm just produced about St. Cyril of Alexandria Catholic Church’s annual Thanksgiving Dinner. The effort by the church’s homeless committee is a four-month labor of love. Watch the video and learn more. (This video is a sample of the product we’re now offering clients to promote their businesses on the web.)
