Sucker for an act of kindness

Every now and then they do something that gives me hope that the good stuff is getting through. We were wandering this store on Main Street USA when Stella appeared with five lollypops–one for each of us purchased from her gift-buying allowance. She did it unprompted and didn't ask anything in return. Just something sweet for her family. She is an old soul indeed.

His fingers are faster than Stella’s

This was Stella's reaction to my question as to whether she could play in the ragtime style being demonstrated behind her. Seems this is just a few lessons down the road for Stella bella.

Next up for Disney’s low ride out

photo.jpg

MIkey at my office told me of this Disney policy: "Low ride out" means the least performing ride gets replaced by one that will perform better. A sort of theme park version of Darwinian selection. We were surveyed when we emerged from the Peter Pan ride yesterday. I wouldn't miss a chance to drill down with a Disney person for some little nugget of magic. He confirmed that they do indeed review and eliminate low-performing attractions. This one got his vote because kids don't know the story any more. So, it's a lot of climbing and looking for no good reason. I couldn't believe it. So, he asked Zuzu if she knew Swiss Family Robinson. She didn't. Neither did Stella or Kate. John did because it was on his reading list in the seventh grade. BUT, he'd never seen the movie. Guess what's being featured on ournext family movie night….

Everyone wanted to go again–except me

What was that I was saying about being too cool to play? Splash Mountain is a long ride that ends with a five-story drop. It's five minutes of ho-hum punctuated by five seconds of weightless plunge. Great fun, but not worth another wait in line. And, NO, my reluctance has nothing to do with the falling or getting wet. Okay, maybe a little…

Dance like Egyptians

There we were in the Egyptian marketplace and it just seemed the thing to do. Of course, it seemed that way mostly to Zuzu and me. The others were too cool to play. Their loss. Me and Zu will never be too cool to play.
