Zuzu at the zoo

As we tended to bringing the house back to life in wake of our road trip return (read: shopping, etc.), Zuzu was invited to the zoo by her BFF and neighbor Savanah.

You can take her out of the troop, but you can’t get her far from the monkeys.

She makes friends everywhere she goes.

Cone of shame dog

Asta wound up with an allergic reaction to something while we were away. Poor pup. He got the Cone of Shame because he kept rubbing on his itchy eyes. He doesn’t like it. We don’t either. But, he is doing better already. Maybe we should take him along on our next vacation.

Set the wayback to Pilgrims

We paused on our drive to Cape Cod to step into the pages of Pilgrim history at Plimoth Plantation. Yep, that’s how they spell it. Turns out spelling was more phonetic back in the 17th century. See? I was born too late.

Interpretive performers make Plimoth Plantation an interactive learning experience for even the most jaded among us. (Take a closer look at those furs in the last shot. Obviously it must have been “take your baby Indian to work day” today.)

Stella is all 4 this

20110618-032221.jpg
Stella saved all her birthday money to get her first phone. What else, but an iPhone. Just in time for the Last DaddyMom Road Trip too! She, John, and Kate will join me in reporting from along the way here on the blog. How far we have come since those early dispatches from my Palm Treo.

Buy me peanuts and cracker jack

I love being at a baseball game. It’s a joy I have found late in life. Couldn’t be bothered when I was, say, John’s age. I took John out to see the Cardinals play (more like bludgeon) the Astros. He shares my love of the game—in an age appropriate way: bored to tears. Maybe someday he will see what I find so relaxing. In the meantime, I just flat loved getting two hours by his side. My boy and baseball. What could be better?
