Busy day for DaddyMom Taxi

Comings and goings can reach a fevered pitch at times in our house. This was one of those weekends. Kate was gone on her LifeTeen retreat on Friday. She returned Sunday at noon.

Then, we had to race John to the airport by 1pm for a week-long school trip in NYC.

Cute but not redeemed

Parent conferences cut one way or the other. For Stella and Zu, they didn’t cut the good way today. TV and computer use will be curtailed and homework will be more carefully monitored as we work to bring grades up. John was along for the ride because the conferences were early enough to get handled on the way to his school. Walking the hallways, John remarked, “this place smells like a middle school. I just love the smell of discipline in the morning.” Funny line. Unfortunately, John got his justice later that afternoon. He was stripped of all technology by Nanny Diana. The sweet scent of discipline indeed.

Pumpkin time with Uncle Sel

I love my brothers. Uncle Sel has an artist’s soul and when he let’s it shine, he gives the world the best he has. When we took time to carve pumpkins today, he wowed us all with his design virtuosity. Zuzu especially loved seeing what he created.

John and his posse aim for an A

Let me first stipulate that I have no idea how Nerf guns and a Flip video camera connect to creating a final project for Intro to Calculus. But, that’s exactly what John and his plastic weapon toting homies were up to today. I do understand their urgency: major project, major grade, due Tuesday. Working at the last minute. Where did he get that? I’m not sayin.

Uncle Sel plays the game

Uncle Sel came to visit on a swing through Texas. I returned this morning from taking John to his PSAT to did Sel caught up in a game of Fluxx with the girls. They love his visits. Me too. Just wish they came more often.
