Roadtrip 2011

This is the last DaddyMom road trip as we know them. By the time we tear another 12 months from the calendar, Grant and Kyle will join the Monkey Troop after Sandie and I marry in October. And, John will be about to leave for college. While not truly a DaddyMom anymore, I'll treasure the title every day God gives me on this earth.

Where it all began

Before we headed for our luxurious hotel (more on that tomorrow), I squeezed in just one more memory lane stop for the kids. Kelley Chapel in Yarmouthport where Tracey and I said “I do” just over 24 years ago. They were struck by how small it was. I guess this proves it: big things can come out of small packages.

An early reunion

Since we got to the Cape early, we got to stop by and see John, Josephine and Chris early. The girls also got some early beach time. A win all around. We return Sunday for John’s 80th birthday party.

Zuzu’s one wish on this trip

She so wanted to go on a tour of Cape Cod Potato Chips’ factory. Unfortunately, our Original plan wouldn’t have us on the Cape in time. Lucky for Zu, we moved things up. She was in heaven—especially when she found the Sea Salt and Vinegar free samples at the end of the tour.

Crossing over to the Cape

Traffic only backed up a short 4.6 miles before we could cross over to the Cape

Let’s rock

There it is: Plymouth Rock. It’s an obscure historic reference for my little scholars who are more grounded in Alamo and Goliad than Smith and Standish.
