A foggy day on Maine’s coast gave the kids a clear understanding of how lighthouses and foghorns work. We listened to the fog horn and waited to hear the next one up the coast echo its warning call.

Moxie is a soda you can only find in Maine. Think of it as turbo-charged root beer with a funny after-taste. That funny flavor is caffeine. Somehow you know I didn’t think this one all the way through.

Riding the narrow rails

Of all the brochures to be found, John spotted one for the narrow gauge trains along the Portland seafront. Lovingly restored by about 100 volunteers, our ride was the perfect answer to a foggy seacoast morning.
