Grammy’s gone (but not Gone)

She was quick to correct me when I said, “Soon you’ll be gone.”

“Please don’t put it that way,” Grammy laughed.

How true. She will return in a couple weeks anyway to attend Kate’s Grandparent’s Day at Saint Agnes. (The JPII version event was canceled this year due to construction.) It’s always a happy day when I go find Grammy standing on the curb at Bush Intercontinental. Glad I won’t have to wait so long this time.

Scary experience for all

This Halloween was a different experience for The DaddyMom. All four kids cooked up their own costumes, grabbed bags and headed out the door on their own to trick-or-treat. I was left behind to spread the confectionery wealth and wait. Not a one of them looked back as they ran off. Previews of coming attractions. sniff. sniff.

Grammy gives Zuzu the finger(s)

time with Grammy is a treat in our house. She comes bearing fun and surprises for the kids. And, with any luck, that fun includes time in the kitchen. This visit was no exception. When Grammy pulled her chocolate molds and colored chocolates from her bag, we knew there would be more treats than tricks this Halloween.

A few short blasts from the microwave and the chocolate was good to go. Grammy did a couple as Zuzu watched. Then, it was her turn.

There’s nothing that vexes me more in the kitchen than working with chocolate. Grammy, on the other hand, walks in and ping, pang, bang: perfect chocolate. Zuzu took charge and finished the job.

The finished product: looks great, tastes even better. Another visit from Grammy, another tasty treat. Good thing she’s coming back again in a few weeks!

Zuzu’s biggest fans

We should all have a fan like Grammy. Zuzu loves when Grammy comes to visit. But, she absolutely glows when Grammy is on the sidelines of a soccer game. What passes between the two of them is nothing short of divine. Indeed, when the two of them connect, a third seems present.

Trick or treating sweeties

Crazy hair day at John Paul II Catholic School had my girls teased up into a pink blur. Hard to say which is cuter.
