Three times. The music paused three times in 90 minutes. Song cascaded
into song, transitions of dance numbers and video effects created a
seamless feel. While she did every old hit I could think of, she gave
every song a fresh face. Borderline, for instance, got a nearly grunge-rock treatment that sounded better than the original. I don't know if
Kate appreciated the re-arrangements since most of those songs in
their original form are from the ancient past of dad's younger years.
Say what you will of Madonna, she is an incredible entertainer.

The stagecraft itself was state-of-the-art. That is, if we're taking
the art of WOW. Flying video screens, a circular screen that turns
translucent as video plays, displaying Madonna inside dancing atop a
piano as video played of water pouring all around her. Kate looked at
me as if to ask how they did that. "I have no idea," I told her. "But,
of sure is cool."

Your mind can't wander far at a Madonna concert. The show holds you
captivated on every level; pulsating lights, throbbing sound, and
choreography shamelessly displaying Madonna's amazing physical
condition. In one number, she sang while jumping rope, jumping two
ropes, and performing acrobatic dance moves. A Cirque du Soleil dancer
would feel flabby watching her in action. Kate was overwhelmed at
times and loved every minute of it.
