Heading home early

Heading home early
The alarm went off at 6am, much to the displeasure of the babies. The
scouts expect to see our hitch at 9, so it’s an early start for us.
That’s okay… Daddy loves an early morning drive.

Zoomin Zuzu
She’s the fastest five year-old on four wheels! How better to wrap up
a road trip than to go go go-carton’. And, no, Zuzu didn’t really do
the driving. She was in the experienced hands of the Drivin DaddyMom!

Dinner at the renowned (even if only by their own measure) Blue Dog
Cafe. A fairly good meal. I’d recommend you try Randol’s instead.
Lesson learned here: when kids ask for chicken tenders, don’t talk
them into Shrimp and Crawdads. They may not be experts on cuisine, but
they ARE authorities on what will pass their lips.

Their Saturday Mass is at 4. We arrived at 5:30. The place was locked
up tight. Too bad… Built in 1824 when  the city was called
Vermilionville, I bet it’s beautiful inside. Upon learning we couldn’t
get in AND missed Mass, the girls said, "can we get dinner now?"

Found this grotto along the way. Built in 1941 for the Christian
Brothers of St. Peter’s College here in New Iberia, it is a replica of
Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto in France. St. Bernadette looks just as
lovely here in Louisiana.
