Westward bound at last!

Westward bound at last!

726.3 MILES: After driving north since leaving Houston, we have finally turned west on I-70. Just another 509 miles to Cheyenne and we’ve run through four movies and lots of crafts. Morale is good, but they are getting a little snippy. Okay, we’re ALL getting snippy. Time for snacks!

Still tired

Still tired

675.3 MILES: Stella is a sleepy head today. Last night while I bunked with Zuzu, she was with John. Asked why she was so tired, Stella said, “I’m not used to sleeping with a boy.” I’m okay with that.

Breakfast for all!

Breakfast for all!

623.8 MILES: We all got a great night’s sleep and put on the feed bag before heading out. From Dallas to Wichita, the Expedition guzzled down 25.2 gallons. All fed. All buckled. Next strop: Cheyenne, WY

Just plain flat

Just plain flat

582.6 MILES: What is up with Kansas? Not much. I swear you can feel it when you cross the state line: these are the flatlands. It’s not like Texas is flat. I mean, you can see soooo far out without abstruction that it’s a little spooky. All I know is that as I finish this note, there are only 35.2 .iles between me and a bed. I’ll bet driving tomorrow is easier when I get more than three hours sleep!

The road goes on and on and…

The road goes on and on and...

500 MILES: Just a mere 1,162 miles till Grammy’s house. Better yet, just 128 miles till we sleep in Wichita.
