Time to climb the Tower of Terror
This is all Kate has been talking about for a week. And now, it is all we will all talk about for weeks to come. You board an elevator in a haunted hotel. It takes you up to see ghosts of former guests. Then, it slides forward down a hallway that becomes a starry night sky before going completely black. And then, the fun begins. In pitch black, we’re shot up to just above that sign you see on the side of the building. But only for a moment–long enough for the elevator door to open and show you how high it is. And then, it’s a straight drop down. But wait, then it rockets you back up higher and drops you again–about 12 stories. I swear we were weightless for part of it. Stella says she was nearly lunchless. Best thing is, though, the ride is different everytime. Cool.

(Shameless product placement)
We interrupt this family vacation for a moment of shameless product placement. Walt never would have allowed this. His vision was to create a place apart from the world where kids and adults could play. Not create a place where there’s an admission charge to have products showcased. Brawny sponsors the stunt car demos. Tougher picker-upper drivers? Hanes has naming space on Aerosmith’s ride. Okay, that one I kinds get. I mean, after that ride you’ll probably need clean ones…
Turns out seafood doesn’t like ME
For all their reading about the parks, the kids are learning that going without a plan is not working. We are zig-zagging the park, bouncing from one thing to another. Tonight, I’m betting there will be a strategy session for tomorrow…. I hope so, this was as close to being drawn down into the murky depths of a cartoon sea as I ever care to be again.
