Missed a turn this morning on the way to a client meeting. Drove till I could make a u-turn. 90-degrees into the 180, my eyes landed on a go-cart track dangerously close to both my office and Johnny’s school. Little man and I had some words the night before; our fast thinking and sharp tongues landed us in opposing corners with no way out. My motto: when the going gets tough, the smart go play. So. I picked up John after school to work it out on the fast track. Some things need no explanation. Come for a ride via the iPhone and see who goes the distance to win.
Fast turns with Johnny
End run for the cannon
The constable will be making more rounds through the subdivision now that the cannon has left the garage.
We drove by night (as usual) and left the Expedition parked here ready for unload. After breakfast, I came around the corner to discover the unload already in progress.
I didn’t have the heart to tell Sean, Burt, and their two helpers that two boys and an old man got it THIS far.
In the end, it was easier to pick up and carry it than try rolling those rusty wheels.
Corrine takes command, directing strong backs and willing minds to deliver it just where she wants it.
“Every school needs a cannon,” says Roy Williams. Now, Wizard Academy has one.
The bars are here!
A couple weeks ago, Stella and I were curled up watching Shark Tank on ABC-TV; a reality show from the same guy who inflicted Survivor and The Apprentice upon us. This show is like The Apprentice on crack: entrepreneurs, inventors, and wingnuts come in and pitch their ideas to a panel of venture capital folk. Well, this one guy sold me and Stella.
Element Bars are custom-made energy bars–like CLIF bars and the like. This guy pitched his butt off and got a deal. My kind of guy. I pulled out the MacBook. Stella and I could give his system a spin. Today the bars arrived. DADDYMOM CRUNCH. Sorry, Not sold in stores. Available for a limited time only–like until five minutes after the kids get a look at the box.
Bottom-line: they’re tasty, organic, and cost only about 15-20% more than a CLIF bar that’s been sitting in a box for God knows how long. Check them out: Element Bars.
Set sail for high adventure
So long, Saturn
I was saddened to read that Penske Automotive was pulling out of its effort to purchase Saturn from GM, thereby dooming the brand to extinction. What’s this have to do with driving with DaddyMom?
Tracey and I moved to Texas in 1986 with a 1983 Volkswagen Rabbit GTi trailing behind our little yellow truck; Tracey and I wanted to ride together instead of driving separately. Of course, the fact that my three year-old Rabbit lacked A/C might have had something to do with it.
Fast forward to 1993: the first trimester of John’s pending arrival. Tracey looks deep in my eyes and says, “if you don’t buy me a car with air conditioning, I’ll give birth to a fried egg.”
What did she want more than any other car? This one: (actually, one like it)
A great car which we outgrew (before it was paid for) when Kate arrived in ’96. I can’t pass one on the road without remembering how Tracey was crying with joy the day she drove it home from the dealership. R.I.P. Saturn.
